Hi,

I'm probably one of the most nosy people that I've ever met. Anyway, these people that I work for have a copy of her book. I read it. I thought it was really good. To be honest though, I'm not sure that her editor/publisher really saw what she wanted to say or did her any favors. Later, I used this book as a conversation starter and the guy I was talking to said they are an amazing, humble bunch just trying to raise quality children. They're not raising entitled prigs. And, in the 21st century of child rearing (rich, middle class or poor), that deserves major props! Who cares about something as trivial as money? Inevitably, motherhood is going to happen to most of us. KS didn't lose her sense of style, self, or her body with her children. As far as overhearing conversations in which KS told her child to in so many words 'be quiet,' I wonder what's wrong with that? My Mom probably would have told me to 'go away.' Kids can be controlling little buggers, plain and simple, no apologies from me. Parenting magazine recently compared the daily care and upkeep of children as being about enjoyable as mopping a floor. Times ten...that's a lot of mopping. Why are people talking about her looking nice around town? I wish I looked nicer every day!! Good for her for finding the time and knowing that it's important. Yet at the same time, knowing the line between keeping yourself up and being just a shallow person.

Wow,
Why so judgemental? And why the compareing?
That is how all of us get ourselves into so much trouble with our self esteem. We focus on ourselves and others weaknesses! The thing I have learned is that there is always a winner and a looser when we compare. It is so unnesscary to compare others or ourselves. Kathryn and the Duggars are different people with different backgrounds different situations. Why not celebrate what they have in common instead of focusing on there differences. I think they could both learn alot from eachother. I appreciate both situations and choose to take from them the positive and leave behind the negative. I have learned that every single person I come in contact with, I can learn something from them if I choose to. I really believe that jealousy and pride always play apart in this judgeing and comparing. We can have pride looking up or looking down. The very thing you are mad at Oprah for, is the very same thing your doing to Kathryn. You say that Oprah is in love with the package well guess what ladies you are judgeing her on the package in a negative way. And while were on the Oprah subject take the good and leave the bad. She is far from the Moral compass that so many woman give her power for. She has done alot of wonderful things but she is not God. The main point that I want to leave is we as humans have got to give our selves and others a break. Were all in this together we have so much to learn from eachother if we would let go of our pride and egos and give others the benefit of the doubt. I want to leave you with one of my favorite qoutes that I often have to remember because I can be judegmental to others or to myself.
"Perhaps the greatest charity comes when we are kind to each other, when we don't judge or categorize someone else, when we simply give each other the benefit of the doubt or remain quiet. Charity is accepting someone's differences, weaknesses, and shortcomings; having patience with someone who has let us down; or resisting the impulse to become offended when someone doesn't handle something the way we might have hoped. Charity is refusing to take advantage of another's weakness and being willing to forgive someone who has hurt us. Charity is expecting the best of each other," from Marvin J. Ashton a leader in the L.D.S church who has passed on.
I hope this message will be recieved the way it was intended. I will continue to come to this website as I know you have some wonderful things to teach me.
Sincerely Ally

A friend of mine in St. Louis said she has seen Ms Sansone at least 12 times in the past few months, 11 of the times there was NOT one child in sight. ONE time a small girl was with her, the mother was talking to a friend and the daughter wanted to aske her something, KS said "if you talk, you won't get to come with mommy next time".

Then, she say Mr and Mrs at the mall on a Sunday morning, no kids in site but as she drove home down a very busy main road in town, she saw 6 Sansone children riding a big supped up golf cart on the side walk--the baby was in it, NO seat belt, NO helmet, NO driver of legal age.

Yes, parenting advice I want to apply to my family, NOT!

She even said "all of the negative reviews of my book are from people who are jealous of me". No, not jealous--amazed is more like it.

I have to respond to this: As far as diet goes, that’s what happens when folks have absurd amounts of children..the kids end up suffering.

I know plenty of families who have a large number of children and who feed them very healthy. We are only at 7 but we make our own pasta, bread, etc., avoid all the processed stuff and are very healthy.

As far as looks go...if KS's husband finds her attractive then great. Michelle's husband also finds her attractive. The two women are at different extremes and each works for them and their families. Michelle chooses to dress modestly and discreetly and that suits her (and her children). If KS wants to look like a pampered princess then that's fine, too. I look more at the character of the women and what they (and I do mean they, not daycare/babysitters/nannies) do with their children during the day more than their faces/outfits.

I'm glad this commentary is here because I am asked often if I've heard of these 2 women/families and this has helped me get my facts straight.

Just a few minor corrections: The name is spelled with an "a," not an "e": Duggar, not Dugger. Secondly, as of December 2006, the Duggar family has 18 kids, not 15. I believe the latest addition was born in March of '06.

I know three families with many children. Two have ten kids and homeschool and live simply (though the girls don't all wear dresses :-p) and the other has nine kids, the mom works as a midwife, and I don't know whether they're homeschooled or not. However, of the two ten-kid families, I have found that all of the kids are healthy and happy and VERY mature. I don't think it's right to judge any given mother according to which tips or rules of another mother she should follow, and I believe it's especially insulting to suggest that one woman needs make-up tips or should work on her physical appearance.

OH my! This beats all! I just stumbled across this, Ms. Sansone, wife of multi-millionair developer James Sansone is pitching rechargeable batteries because they help her save money!

She does it all, and recharges her batteries to save a few nickles!

[...] The other day an old post of mine on Kathryn Sansone got a couple of new comments. This happens from time to time; her book is still a hot topic for some I guess. Being very involved over the last few days with bigger fish to fry, I didn’t reply to the comments but last night, when I was suposed to be dreaming I think, some thoughts came to me instead that this morning I’d like to express.
