more along the lines of eating fat and losing fat….
Joanne, whose site Nourished.com.au is quite the interesting read, had this little gem about Ice Cream. I skip skimmed milks (and lower percentages) because of what is added to them, and I already choose full-on fat ice creams because they TASTE better and if I’m gonna indulge then heck! I’m gonna indulge. It’s still mind-bending to think they are better for me, period. Here’s something to help mental flexing along….

After reading the wonderful list of ingredients in store-bought ice cream, it makes you want to go home and make some good old fashioned ice cream with real cream and vanilla! Why do the food companies do this to us?

My parents were health food nuts in late 70’s and early 80’s. We were treated sometimes to ice cream from the “health” food store. Do you know back then it was only available at nutrition stores? It was Haagen-Daz! I saw a label for strawberry and it has no artificial flavors, it was like: cream, egg yolks, strawberries, sugar and lowfat milk. I wonder if it used to be lowfat back when it was a “health food”? Well, I am starting to think my parents were purdy smart!
Some day I will dig out honey wheat bread recipe from my mom…..it has cottage cheese in it! It was like a “treat” sooooo good growing up!
Of course poor mom didn’t know me and my brother snuck off on our bikes and spent our WHOLE allowance on candy! UGH!
