My parents were health food nuts in late 70's and early 80's. We were treated sometimes to ice cream from the "health" food store. Do you know back then it was only available at nutrition stores? It was Haagen-Daz! I saw a label for strawberry and it has no artificial flavors, it was like: cream, egg yolks, strawberries, sugar and lowfat milk. I wonder if it used to be lowfat back when it was a "health food"? Well, I am starting to think my parents were purdy smart!
Some day I will dig out honey wheat bread recipe from my mom.....it has cottage cheese in it! It was like a "treat" sooooo good growing up!
Of course poor mom didn't know me and my brother snuck off on our bikes and spent our WHOLE allowance on candy! UGH!

After reading the wonderful list of ingredients in store-bought ice cream, it makes you want to go home and make some good old fashioned ice cream with real cream and vanilla! Why do the food companies do this to us?
