There’s a Hole in the Bucket, Dear Liza
If You Want Me To by Ginny Owens
The lyrics:
The pathway is broken
And The signs are unclear
And I don’t know the reason why You brought me here
But just because You love me the way that You do
I’m gonna walk through the valley
If You want me to
Chorus:
Cause I’m not who I was
When I took my first step
And I’m clinging to the promise You’re not through with me yet
so if all of these trials bring me closer to you
Then I will go through the fire
If You want me to
It may not be the way I would have chosen
When you lead me through a world that’s not my home
But You never said it would be easy
You only said I’d never go alone
So When the whole world turns against me
And I’m all by myself
And I can’t hear You answer my cries for help
I’ll remember the suffering Your love put You through
And I will go through the valley
If You want me to
When I cross over Jordan,
I’m gonna sing, gonna shout
I’m gonna look into Your eyes and see
You never let me down
So take me on the pathway that will lead me home to You
And I will walk through the valley
If You want me to
Yes, I will walk through the valley
If You want me to

Tia, I absolutely love that song, and can sing the tune as I read those words. Tears have streamed down my face as I have sung those words, and tried to fully grasp their meaning in my own life. The valleys of life are sometimes dark and unexpected. I pray that you will feel God’s comfort as you walk through whatever valley that may be ahead.

I heard Ginny sing this at Praise Gathering several years ago…it really touched my heart. Did you know that she has been blind for a very long time? She writes all of her own material and plays piano beautifully. Complete surrender is where we all should strive to be…but it is sooooo hard. My prayers to all who read these words today and are going through the valley.

Well, I guess we can go through our own personal valleys together and support each other. I love you and it broke my heart to read your news today. I will be praying in my feeble prayers for you and your family. And, now I need to listen to the song you posted since I’ve never heard it and the lyrics seem apropos to my life.
