So close we can taste it.
We’re almost there!!! I did the taxes last night and barring any surprises, we will be debt free in 3 weeks!!!!!!
I’m almost afraid to get too excited until the last check is signed. But if you see me with a slap-happy smile across my face, doing the most mundane of things, and you wonder why…. you’ll know!!!
Now to plan the party. It must be BIG! It must include as many people who helped us along the way with thier encouragement, cheers, comraderie, and listening ears as I went on and on about Total Money Makeovers. It must somehow include a call to Dave Ramsey to scream en masse “the scream” (can’t bring myself to say it just yet…). So, we’re planning a “Dave and Debt-Freedom” party. This, my friends, is a LIFE EVENT.

Good for you!! Does this also include your mortgage? We’re debt-free except for that. Does the program also include mortgage pay-off? That is our next goal.

Kellie, do you know about his “baby steps”? Step one is a $1000k emergency fund (ours gets used and refunded back and forth). Step two is the “debt snowball”, step three is a fully funded emergency fund (3-6 months of expenses). four is retirement I *think* and five is the mortgage…the reason being lots of retirees have paid off homes and no money. I could be wrong on those last steps. We had to add in baby step 1 and 1/2: increase our income. We’d also like to refi our mortgage to get a better interest rate so we can pay down faster. But that snow ball was first; I can hardly believe we’re facing the end of it!!!
