Oh gee whiz.

Can I type without the letter that comes after “j”? My sweet sweet baby poured water on my _eyboard today. We spent hours with a fan on the laptop praying.  The comma _ey and the space  _ey also seem to be affected.  It is  stic_y and slow. Wont  get a boo_ written this way. I am (no apostrophe either) trying to have a sense of humor about it….at least it came back on after 6 or so hours of wind. The harddrive appears to be safe. Things could be worse. If anyone has  any suggestions other than obviously more time with a fan let me _now.

Copy this letter k onto the clipboard. Then past (Ctrl-V) everytime you need to use k.

You can contact Dell. They should be able to send you a replacement keyboard. I know, I know, you hate dealing with them. I don’t blame you.

Or…if you send me your computer info I can see if I can find one online- since you would need to use that letter that comes after j I thought it might be a bit difficult for you to search.

    Alternatively, there is this http://tech.yahoo.com/gd/dealing-with-a-dead-laptop-keyboard/153166

After you replace it I recommend

It flagged you for moderation because of multiple links.

I have “K” back but other keys are all messed up. Seems very random. Will be replacing the keyboard I think.

We finally retired a laptop a few years ago when D was a toddler. He found that he could just barely get his fingernails under the keys and managed to pull them off a few at a time… J tried taping them back on, but it didn’t quite work so we finally put it out to pasture. Sorry about that!

Suffice it to say,now that you are out of debt, Satan will be on the prowl wreaking havoc on your finances, trying to get you off track. Hang in there.

well, this happened to me before and my letters did all eventually come back. I can’t remember how long it took, though. Have you popped off the top of the letter to let the fan get in there better?

Tia…go to Best Buy and pick up a Dynex key board with a USB plug..it shouldn’t cost more than $10 plug it in and use that instead. Not as portable…but certainly typable. :)

Once a keyboard on a laptop is gone it is fairly hard to replace without sending it off for repair. They are fairly propriatary. Sorry.
