Thoughts:
- Â it’s dawned on me today that when one takes a subject, researches it, considers it, and decides to keep parts of and disgard others out of respect for individuals, that there are purists of that subject who will insist you simply haven’t listened long enough, read enough, been open enough. They will insist this a failing on your part, rather than on their system or subject. They will increduously scorn you as being closed-minded. Lord forgive me for any time I’ve ever done this to another, out of love for an ideal.
- it’s also reminded me that being deliberate or decided about something can intimidate those languishing in debate and uncertainty. Being focused, moving on to actually living something rather than endlessly and circuitously debating the best way to live, can seem threatening. Threatened people insult. They assume you are “saying”, through your deliberateness, something about their own decision or lack thereof, whether you are or not.
- And, there is a season to everything. A season for asking. A season for wondering. A season for researching. A season for eating and digesting. A season for moving on.
- Last night we watched a new show on CBS that just premiered last week. It’s called pirate master and is great fun! From the makers of Survivor and with similar elements, it has that “first season” hokiness to overcome. But there are neat twists and turns, compelling characters from the outset, and a fantasticaly fun theme!
- The TED.com video we watched last night was on human-centered design. Neat thoughts, curious designs. Gotta love the 3-second delay mirror; not so much the scuba machine that lets you watch the ocean on TV while sailing…
