Didya ever think something called “rape whistle” could be funny?
I sure didn’t! Dr. Dunaway wrote about it on his blog and it indeed hilarious…sigh. Words and the way we use them matter. My word-lovin’ hubby, who is also in the process of beginning his own blog to be released later this week, is going to love the point this post makes. Warning: set all liquids aside first!

Actually, yes! A few years ago I found these cool whistles at the outfitter store. I was looking for stocking stuffers, so I bought one for each of my children. Imagine my horror on Christmas morning when I overheard son number two asking son number one “Why on earth do you think mom gave us RAPE WHISTLES in our Christmas stockings???”
I had no idea that’s what they were called! I just thought they were cool whistles! So that’s been the big joke since then at our house around Christmas time. “Wonder if mom’s getting us RAPE WHISTLES again this year??”
