But this summer, with the cooler temps, lower humidity, and quieter bugs, they seemed downright enchanting. The humid weather this week has provided the contrast. They are louder; the sun feels hotter, and I don't like that prickly/wet/squinty feeling. It's nice to know the real cause though and not blame the poor little creatures for it :-). I love the cicadas! When I've lived in drier places, that's what I missed the most.
