A nod to my Swedish heritage: a smorgaasbord of topics
Yesterday was a challenge for this introvert: I had SIX phone conferences, the last one ending after 11pm. All of them were great fun, all of them got me quite jazzed, and in all of them I learned something both about myself and the other person. Sometimes I’m afraid to look around the next corner of my future because the whisper of things to come sounds so exciting…good thing all that’s asked of me today is to live in the moment.
There’s a theme ’round the the parts I travel: life change, making the decision, and getting the reassuring support necessary to Take. That. Step. Tim wrote a great piece today…I think one his best ever…on his own “Independance Day“. My speaker buds characteristically have gone though (or are going through) cataclysmic life change done in deliberate, daring ways. Dr. Dunaway left a successful medical practice to do what he’s doing now; he wrote about his own conversion awhile back. Last night I had a great conversation with Jana Stanfield, another speaker getting ready to really change her life…she’s closing up shop and traveling around the world for a year, starting with India! And it’s beautifully agenda-free; she’s going with an open heart, open mind for what she may learn on the journey. (Yes I know, many of us love the sound of that and can’t do the same in our lives right now…hopefully she’ll blog about it somehow so we can all follow along and be inspired!) Her song that says, “what would I do today if I were brave?” has been in my head for several weeks now and she is living her own words in ways few would dare to emmulate and yet, we all can. What would YOU do if you were brave today?

Next plate on the buffet:
If I were pregnant (and I’m not but my SISTER is!!!) I’d no doubt be filling the blog with all kinds of natural-momma stuff because that’d be nearly all I had on the brain. Ordinary Days had this up today…bummer that I’ve already weaned our not-so-little-baby and can’t take part! But here’ s a voice of support for all of you breastfeeding moms out there! Human milk for human babies!!!

Skip the pickled herring and look on down next to the sausage selection….
“Seth is preaching” today on one of my biggest pet peeves. As an internet shopper who finds my ups man dressed in brown to be a certifiable angel, saving me from department stores and children playing hide and seek among crowded clothing racks while my sanity trickles from me faster than sweat on my back on an august day, the shipping and handling issue has determined whether or not I’m repeat business more times than I can count. In fact, I’ve pretty much quit ebay all together. Too many instances of winning an auction for 2 bucks, and often having won multiple things from the same seller, only to be charged 8 bucks to ship EACH item. Same thing happened the last time I bought from Amazon…I spent an extra half hour rearranging my order so as to get everything from the same sellers and then they charged me full shipping on each individual item anyway. I’d rather use my shipping fees to pay a babysitter and head to the store myself….

Wanna learn more about blogging? I’ve been frequenting this site; the writer is running a 31 day project to help you build a better blog. Today it was a bit overwhelming, seeing this many links to others who have sent in their tips…but there is no doubt some good stuff there for those who have a few spare minutes to peruse the files.

And so…it’s a bit early in the morning for a beer with our smorgaasbord….but maybe later ‘eh? I’m suddenly filled with an urge to go slice my kids thick slices of bread with butter and jam, and fresh milk, and to braid Celia’s hair upon her head, and play some accordion music while we dance…..
Onward!

OFF TOPIC:
Whatever happened to your move to Mexico? Is that still a possibility?
ON TOPIC:
I read that on Seth’s blog today, too! We recently (as in just two days ago) had a bad experience re: inflated shipping. I don’t usually mind the inflated shipping if I still feel like I’m getting a better deal than buying locally. But, my husband recently had to return something he bought from an eBayer, and by the time he finished paying to ship it back, the refund only amounted to two dollars or so.

off topic: it’s out there on the horizon. We have tried it on for size and found it to be less than an exciting fit…we need more information at this point and that is still a ways off.
on topic: I feel your pain!
