I think Todd Palin has done a great job parenting and will continue to do so. And why is everyone bashing a seventeen-year-old's pregnancy? What parent can control their hormonal 17-year-old's private choices? She didn't abort her child and she didn't lie about it. She's still standing with her parents... they didn't kick her out. Applaud her. Sarah Palin's children are obviously bonded to her, including Trig, and he has several members of his family looking over him, including Piper, who has obviously seen positive parenting in the way she cared for Trig (during the convention). I think it's borderline sexist to say that Todd can't effectively care for Trig as much as Sarah can. I think they will all be fine... they are a great example of family.

Wow. To me the columnist is brazenly depressing. Just because she can't handle it, just because other marriages fail, doesn't mean that someone else cannot handle it, or that someone else's marriage will crack. Why is it that Sarah Palin's husband Todd is incapable of caring for the special needs child? He's been on a leave of absence since she became governor.

Maybe they view Trig as a child first. In that sense, every child is a special needs child. They all need mom and dad. They all need a loving family embracing them. There seems to be a cultural assumption that the "special needs child" takes more parenting than the rest, rather than the assumption that ALL kids take all the love, time and energy that can be given! Seems to me that the Palin family is perfectly capable of providing what's needed. Seems like they juggled having 5 children at the convention, including the "special needs child" (who does have a name), just fine! I don't understand the objections. I really don't. Seems to me that she's a living example of liberated femininity....she's livin' the egalitarian life we're all pulling for. Her kids look as happy and normal (teen pregnancy and all) as any I've seen. So, I'm pulling for her! :-)

I'm sorry I'm appearing cantankerous. I'm not wanting to be. I just don't get it!
